What I Do
I have been painting for about 16 years now. I love to paint objects that are beautiful. Like birds, flowers, children, etc. I pay careful attention to details. Even my watercolor paintings are detailed. All the art that hangs on my walls, I have painted myself.
I use this love in working on my latest passion which is the Art of Newborning, many times referred to as Reborning. I paint dolls that have been sculpted by well known artists such as Eva Wakolbinger, Adrie Stoete, Wendy Dickison, Dawn Donofrio, Laura Tuzio Ross, Reva Schick, Tamie Yarie, and Villanova just to name a few. These sculpts are made into vinyl kits.
I use special paints that were manufactured for painting vinyl. The exact temperature and timing in the oven is essential.
After I am completely satisifed with the 'skin' tones and effects, I root the hair and eyelashes to match. This is done with a fine needle. Mohair is used in this process.
The body is then filled with the finest glass beads for weight and poly-fill for softness, then the body is assembled. Slowly these dolls are transformed into one-of-a-kind, lifelike baby. That's why I call them Babies So Real!
